Summer ’11 – “Law Clerk Intern” – BNSF Railway; Fort Worth, TX

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Temporary clerkship for a six-week period. Reports to in-house lawyers at BNSF. Under direction of law department attorneys will:
o Analyze legal issues, conduct legal research and analysis and prepare memoranda and legal documents, including initial drafts of court pleadings and discovery responses.
o May assist in discovery matters in coordination with staff paralegals and attorneys.

This is an opportunity for a law student to learn practical and legal business aspects of the film and television music industry as part of the Music Affairs group of SPE. The intern’s education and experience will be centered around the Rights Management team, whose primary responsibilities are researching and licensing the music rights necessary for the release of the SPE’s catalog of film and television productions in all new media and tracking ancillary music rights in SPE catalog productions. However, the intern will also observe and work with personnel from all other teams within the Music Affairs group and will be included in interdepartmental meetings as well. The intern will engage in detailed document review and legal analysis with an emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
