Summer ’11 – “Intellectual Property Intern” – Procter & Gamble (P&G); Cincinnati, OH

The Intellectual Property Division plays a vital role in protecting our international investment in intellectual property. We are very proud of our summer program. Our interns are working with us typically the summer prior to their final year in law school. Our interns are assigned both a supervisor and a mentor to help them on-board quickly and have an opportunity to see corporate life and quickly gain hands-on experience. Each intern is given a variety of assignments to allow them the opportunity to understand the scope of the work we do. The duties our interns complete during their summer include: patentability opinion, 2 responses, patent application draft, set of claims, and a final presentation at the end of the summer on a topic related to their work.

Fall ’10 – “LAW STUDENT INTERNS” – County of Riverside, California; Riverside, CA

The Office of County Counsel is searching for Law Student Interns who have strong diplomacy and people skills. The successful intern will be working with Officers and County staff as part of the Code Enforcement team and will be assisting professional Attorneys with general litigation.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Preparing declarations and memoranda of points and authorities, compiling exhibits for inspection and seizure warrants for submission
- Preparing pleadings, including complaints, injunctions and summary judgement motions for injunctions and nuisance abatement cases

Fall ’10 – “Law Clerk” – UniGroup, Inc.; Fenton, MO

UniGroup, Inc., founded in 1987, is the parent company of United Van Lines, Mayflower Transit and other subsidiaries which support the worldwide operations of these two leading transportation companies; Vanliner Group, Inc. (providing specialized insurance coverage for movers); Total Transportation Services, Inc., (which sells and leases vehicles and sells movers’ supplies); SAM (Store and Move), a portable moving and storage solution; and UniGroup Worldwide UTS (a global mobility management company).

Under direct supervision, provides support to the Attorneys of the Legal Department. With an Attorney’s direction, resolves routine legal issues.

Fall ’10 – “Law Clerk” – Raytheon; El Segundo, CA

Assist Raytheon Corporate Counsel in legal matters involving legal research, document drafting, contracts review, internal investigations, and other tasks as assigned.

Fall ’10 – “Law Clerk” – First National of Nebraska, Inc.; Omaha, NE

Provide support to a legal department of five attorneys by conducting research and reviewing and preparing documents. Research includes state and federal laws and regulations that govern national and state banks, financial holding companies and various corporate entities. Document review and preparation includes contracts, corporate resolutions, state and federal filings and others.

Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on various legal issues. Review and interpret contracts. Provide other support to legal department in the areas of corporate law, banking, contracts, corporate governance, litigation and compliance.

Summer ’11 – “Summer Law Clerkships” – Earthjustice; Washington, DC; Honolulu, HI

Earthjustice is a non-profit public interest law firm dedicated to protecting the earth’s natural resources and defending the right of all people to a healthy environment. Originally founded as the Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund in 1971, Earthjustice has been involved in many of the nation’s most important environmental battles and has established valuable precedents in cases involving air and water quality, endangered species, forestry, public lands, and international environmental law.

Summer law clerks will participate in a wide range of tasks that will include significant legal research and factual research and is also likely to include preparing briefs and motions; meeting with clients and experts; conducting case investigation, record review, or discovery; performing administrative advocacy; and/or screening potential new cases or developing new legal claims or theories.

Fall ’10, Spring ’11 – “Legal Intern” – Consumers for a Responsive Legal System; Washington, DC

Consumers for a Responsive Legal System (“Responsive Law”) is seeking law interns for pay or for credit for the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 semesters.

Responsive Law is a national nonprofit advocacy organization that works to improve accessibility, accountability and affordability in the civil justice system. We advocate for more competition in the provision of legal services, better self-help options for the legal system’s customers, and improved legal literacy for those customers.

Ideal candidate should be L2 law student and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and possess above-average computer skills and technical ability. This law clerk position is available part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer.

Fall ’10 – “Public Policy Legal Intern” – Comcast; Washington, DC

Comcast Corporation’s Washington, DC office is looking for a part-time law student intern to support the Public Policy group in Fall 2010. The position involves research and writing on public policy issues including cable, Internet, voice, wireless, and content. The intern can expect to prepare briefing memos, talking points, comment summaries, and other written material, and may have opportunities to attend conferences, hearings and events outside of the office.

Fall ’10 – “Reproductive Rights Project- Legal Internship” – ACLU; New York City

The RRP is seeking law student applicants for fall internships. Interns will participate in litigation, legal analysis, legislative analysis, public education and advocacy regarding a broad range of issues including: abortion, family planning, reproductive health care coverage in public and private insurance, confidentiality in health care, HIV/AIDS and sex education, pregnancy discrimination, defending clinics against anti-choice efforts, contraceptive equity, childcare and reproductive technology.
