Fall ’10 – “Legal Interns” – Discovery Communications; Silver Spring, MD

5) Attend project and staff meetings and present updates on current case law affecting the entertainment industry and other industry trends

Summer ’10 – “Part-time Intern Compliance Officer” – Consumer Credit Counseling Service of MD & DE, Inc.; Catonsville, MD

Serving the community since 1966, Consumer Credit Counseling Service of MD & DE, Inc. is an accredited non-profit community service organization. We are dedicated to helping individuals and families resolve financial problems. We promote the wise use of credit through confidential budget counseling, debt management repayment program, and community education. CCCS doesn’t lend money, nor are we a collection agency. Annually, CCCS helps more than 30,000 individuals through counseling sessions, and reaches more than 150,000 individuals through education programs.

Non-profit Consumer Credit Counseling Agency located in Catonsville, MD has an opening for a part-time intern Compliance Officer. Intern would assist with preparing annual reports, license renewal applications and development of a reference database for state regulation.

Summer ’10 – “Contract Management Intern, Legal Department” – Human Genome Sciences; Rockville, MD

Human Genome Sciences (HGS) is a biopharmaceutical company with approximately 800 employees and world-class R&D and manufacturing facilities based in Rockville, MD. We have three promising products in late-stage development – one, raxibacumab, already commercialized with sales to the U.S, Government and two products moving toward commercialization, BENLYSTA™ (formerly LymphoStat-B®) and ZALBIN™ (formerly Albuferon®). We are developing both of these products in collaboration with world leaders in the pharmaceutical industry.

The Legal Department is seeking a summer intern to assist in maintaining a contracts management database. The primary responsibilities will include auditing a contract management database to verify that contract provisions have been correctly entered. Additional responsibilities include adding new contracts to the database, including scanning documents into electronic form and entering relevant metadata for such scanned documents into the database.

The end goal of the assignment to the Legal Department will be to assist the department with specific projects and to expose the intern to a full range of projects handled by the Legal Department. These projects will include assisting in the drafting, review and negotiation of contracts, assistance with regulatory compliance projects and other projects outlined in the Assignments table attached, and as they arise. The intern will have the opportunity to work with the internal clients of the Legal Department, including individuals working in relationship management, merchant integration, project management, merchant marketing, consumer marketing and operations.

Summer ’10 – “Legal Intern” – Sexual Assault Legal Institute; Silver Spring, MD

The Sexual Assault Legal Institute (SALI) of Maryland is seeking applications for legal interns for academic year and summer internships. SALI is one of the only programs in the country devoted solely to providing direct legal services to victims of sexual assault.

The Institute is a state wide program that provides legal services in civil cases for victims of sexual assault in cases such as: college administration hearings, privacy issues, peace and protective orders, family law matters, employment, housing, and any other civil issue related to sexual assault. SALI also provides technical assistance and training for attorneys, rape recovery center staff, and other professionals working with survivors.

Legal interns in the office provide information to victims of sexual assault and help attorneys who are working on college administration hearings, privacy issues, peace and protective orders, family law matters, employment, housing, and any other civil matter relating to sexual assault.

This position will be responsible for conducting legal research and preparation of legal memoranda on a wide range of issues facing an international company, including compliance, policy, contracts, and employment matters.

The Legal Intern will be exposed to the complex interactions between the business of solar energy and the application of real property law through: All of the intern’s work will be supervised by an attorney. This supervisor will ensure the quality and reliability of the work product by reviewing the intern’s work before SunEdison takes any actions.
