Summer ’11 – “Intern” – Allstate Insurance Co.; Northbrook, IL

Allstate Insurance Company located in Northbrook, Illinois is posting for Summer Intern positions in its Law & Regulation Department. The position will assign interns to two 5-week rotations among the multiple law divisions. The possible rotation opportunities can include Dispute Resolution Services, Corporate Governance, Financial Law, Investment Law, and Protection Law. The responsibilities of the intern position include, among other things, research and preparation of legal memoranda and oral presentations under the supervision of a licensed Allstate attorney.

NRDC’s summer legal interns help write briefs, draft complaints, prepare legal analyses, obtain affidavits, investigate corporate and government malfeasance, participate in policy advocacy campaigns, and draft white papers and comments for submission to Congressional committees and administrative agencies.

May also support the General Counsel. Estimated 16-24 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks. This is an unpaid position. In cooperation with college/university may consider it an externship.

Fall ’10 – “Intern, Jury Consulting” – TrialGraphix; Chicago, IL

TrialGraphix is a national litigation consulting firm that specializes in discovery, trial consulting, and presentation services. This is a non-licensure site.

The jury consulting intern position consists largely of assisting jury consultants and research associates with their daily tasks. The intern will work on the front-end of research by assisting in the preparation and execution of mock trials. Interns will condense data from mock trials into common themes, which is used by jury consultants in the preparation of their report on the most effective litigation strategy according to the results of the research. Further post-mock trial research tasks include creating verdict forms and table maps of the deliberation groups. The intern will create and maintain several databases, including juror profile demographics, case specific voir dire questions, and national juror surveys. Interns are also responsible for creating venue reports, which are quick references for information on a venue. Interns may also have the opportunity to assist with expert witness training seminars. The jury consultant intern should expect to assist in a wide range of tasks pertaining to litigation strategy.
