Summer ’11 – “Intellectual Property Intern” – Procter & Gamble (P&G); Cincinnati, OH

The Intellectual Property Division plays a vital role in protecting our international investment in intellectual property. We are very proud of our summer program. Our interns are working with us typically the summer prior to their final year in law school. Our interns are assigned both a supervisor and a mentor to help them on-board quickly and have an opportunity to see corporate life and quickly gain hands-on experience. Each intern is given a variety of assignments to allow them the opportunity to understand the scope of the work we do. The duties our interns complete during their summer include: patentability opinion, 2 responses, patent application draft, set of claims, and a final presentation at the end of the summer on a topic related to their work.

Fall ’10 – “Legal Intern (Unpaid)” – NetScout Systems, Inc.; Westford, MA

This internship is intended to provide the candidate with exposure to the day-to-day activities of a corporate legal department and may include work in the following areas:
- Foreign Entity Maintenance – Assist in creating and organizing foreign subsidiary binders; assist attorney in processing various filings for the corporate entities; establishing electronic file set up for foreign subsidiaries; assist in completing data entry information for corporate directory file.
- Database and Electronic File Management – Scan and upload contracts into electronic and customer file systems; organize electronic and paper files.
- Patents – Integrate NetGen patents into NetScout patents; validate where original patents are located and update IP spreadsheet.

Fall ’10 – “College Intern – Law Practice Intern” – Applied Materials; Santa Clara, CA

The IP law and practice internship provides the opportunity to enhance a student’s education by acquiring firsthand experience in the Applied Materials IP Law department. The intern’s work will have a positive impact on the department’s day to day operations.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, is enrolled at least part-time in law school, and has completed 1st year of law school.

Summer ’10, Fall ’10 – “Patent, Intern” – Kodak; Dayton, OH

Eastman Kodak Company currently has an outstanding opportunity for a Patent Law Intern to join the Inkjet Printing Solutions group. The Patent Law Intern will be working with scientists and engineers of the Inkjet Printing Solutions group and patent attorneys of the Kodak Patent Legal department. You will have the opportunity to serve as part of a team of professionals delivering quality service to a variety of Kodak’s worldwide entities, subsidiaries, and joint ventures.

Patent intern will assist in the patent filing process by carrying out patent searches, assist in drafting application, working with inventors on patent office action responses, and creation of patent figures. Patent intern will assist in technology clearance process by carrying out patent searches to ensure we are not infringing the patents of others. Patent intern will help maintain records on the invention disclosure entries.

Intellectual Property intern will assist Nuance Communications, Inc. with its efforts to manage a large and continuously growing IP portfolio, as well as other intellectual property items associated with a fast growing software company, such as open source software, trademarks and copyright matters.

Summer ’10 – “Intern” – American Express; New York City

Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting American Express IP Strategy Team withdeveloping strategies to leverage and license intellectual property, as well as draft and negotiate IP license agreements;
- Analyzing domestic and international patents in the business methods, risk management, fraud, payment systems and statistics software technologies;
- Assisting with patent valuations, claim charts, patent claim strength analysis and various other tasks in support of IP Strategy team objectives;

Summer ’10 – “Hourly Intern” – Citrix Systems; Fort Lauderdale, FL

Citrix desktop virtualization, application virtualization, server virtualization, application networking, cloud computing and Software as a Service offerings radically simplify computing for millions of users, delivering applications as an on-demand service to any user, in any location on any device.

Responsibilities:
• Assist with developing and managing a global intellectual property portfolio, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and software licenses.
• Conduct legal research and provide general support on legal projects as directed by intellectual property attorneys.

Summer ’10 – “Legal, Intern” – Kodak; Rochester, NY

Eastman Kodak Company currently has a Summer Legal Internship opportunity in its Intellectual Property Organization.

During the 2010 summer, the Legal Intern will work in the Office of the Chief Intellectual Property (IP) Officer, and provide support to IP Counsel on a variety of matters as needed, including US and foreign patent generation, IP transactions, IP licensing and litigation, and legal research.

Summer ’10 – “Patent Summer Student Assistant” – Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory; Berkeley, CA
