The Environmental Health Policy Intern will have the opportunity to engage in-behind-the-scenes work on some of the most critical issues facing the nation. The intern will be expected to perform some administrative tasks in addition to undertaking more substantive research projects.

Summer ’10 – “Part-time Intern Compliance Officer” – Consumer Credit Counseling Service of MD & DE, Inc.; Catonsville, MD

Serving the community since 1966, Consumer Credit Counseling Service of MD & DE, Inc. is an accredited non-profit community service organization. We are dedicated to helping individuals and families resolve financial problems. We promote the wise use of credit through confidential budget counseling, debt management repayment program, and community education. CCCS doesn’t lend money, nor are we a collection agency. Annually, CCCS helps more than 30,000 individuals through counseling sessions, and reaches more than 150,000 individuals through education programs.

Non-profit Consumer Credit Counseling Agency located in Catonsville, MD has an opening for a part-time intern Compliance Officer. Intern would assist with preparing annual reports, license renewal applications and development of a reference database for state regulation.

A legal intern is needed for content acquisitions/business affairs department of this major digital media company. This unpaid internship offers potential school credit and provides substantive entrée to future opportunities.

Summer ’10 – “Immigration Legal Intern/Volunteer” – International Rescue Committee; Miami, FL

Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee is a leading non-sectarian non-profit organization providing emergency relief, protection, rehabilitation assistance, resettlement services and advocacy for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict. IRC staff and volunteers provide shelter, medical and public health assistance, education, and training and income-generating programs for refugees in nearly 30 countries. We also help refugees resettle in the United States.

Responsibilities:
• Bilingually complete naturalization applications for submission to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Department of Homeland Security:
– Conduct initial eligibility assessments of potential applicants
– Accurate completion of USCIS application forms (N-400 and N-600)
– Handle related immigration matters, such as Requests for Evidence (RFEs), follow-up advocacy, inquiries, notices, etc.
– Assist with complex issues including waivers, medical disabilities, language proficiency, age requirements, etc.

Summer ’10 – “TEMP – CO-OP/INTERN” – LexisNexis; Boca Raton, FL

On a temporary basis, assist with standardization of contract templates across the Risk entities. Assist with the management of customer contracts, vendor contracts, and other legal agreements. Develop templates and standards to support multi-jurisdictional contract development. Interface directly with sales personnel, and legal staff. Perform legal research as requested by department attorneys. Assist with monitoring contract terms and conditions post-sale, like data destruction requests.
