Fall ’11 – “Dorot Fellowship 2010 – 2011″ – Alliance for Justice; Washington, DC

The Judicial Selection Project of Alliance for Justice is offering a public interest fellowship to a recent law school graduate. The term of the fellowship will be from September 2011 through August 2012.

Alliance for Justice is a national association of environmental, civil rights, women’s rights, consumer, and other nonprofit advocacy organizations. Founded in 1979, Alliance’s mission is to lead progressive advocacy and strengthen the progressive movement to ensure robust and equal access to levers of government power. Through its Judicial Selection Project, Alliance for Justice monitors nominees to the federal bench at all levels, maintaining a database and other information on prospective judges. The Project also engages in substantial education of the public and of the Senate to ensure that only fair, qualified, individuals committed to social justice are confirmed.

Fall ’10 – “Intellectual Property Litigation and Business Litigation” – Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P.; Minneapolis, MN

We seek applications from 3rd year law students (graduating in 2010) and 2009-10 term judicial clerks for new associate positions starting in Fall, 2010. Qualified candidates will have strong academic credentials, demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities and be highly motivated to succeed in trial and litigation work.

Fall ’10 – “AmeriCorps Legal Fellow – Consumer Law” – Montana Legal Services Association; Helena, MT

The Legal Fellow will work with MLSA’s Consumer Law Unit to address the consumer and bankruptcy law issues of Montana’s low-income population. The Legal Fellow primarily will work with MLSA attorneys on MLSA’s bankruptcy law pro se clinic, and will recruit law students and attorneys for pro bono assistance to MLSA’s bankruptcy clients. A portion of the Legal Fellow’s time also will be spent providing direct services to MLSA’s clients to gain experience in consumer law issues.

These direct services will include giving legal advice through MLSA’s Helpline, working with pro se clients and providing direct representation in consumer cases. The Legal Fellow and pro bono volunteers also will develop educational brochures and resources directed at helping Montana’s low income residents better understand their legal rights. The position requires travel within Montana, as this position will conduct outreach to the University of Montana Law School and provide services throughout the state.

Fall ’10 – “AmeriCorps Legal Fellow – Indian Law” – Montana Legal Services Association; Helena, MT

MLSA has an opening in its Billings office for an AmeriCorps Legal Fellow to work with the MLSA Indian Law Unit to provide resources and services to Native Americans on the Crow and Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservations, and throughout Montana. The Fellow will carry a caseload providing services ranging from brief counsel to legal advice and representation on core legal issues affecting Native Americans and Indian tribes in Montana, including consumer, housing, wills and land tenure issues.

The Fellow will be responsible for community outreach activities, including outreach to the University of Montana Law School, and for recruiting and coordinating pro bono attorneys and law students to provide services to Native American clients. Travel throughout Montana will be required.

Fall ’10 – “SUPREME COURT ATTORNEY” – Supreme Court of California; San Francisco, CA

The Supreme Court of California, located in San Francisco, is accepting applications for the position of Supreme Court Attorney on the Criminal Central Staff. One or more positions are one-year clerkships, with the possibility of renewal for a second year, and will start in September 2010. One position may be available with unlimited tenure to begin at an earlier date.

Please note: Recent law school graduates are invited to apply. If selected for employment, the candidate will be hired into a Graduate Legal Assistant classification, pending admission to the State Bar of California.

Fall ’10 – “Law Clerk” – Third Judicial District, State of Minnesota; Faribault, MN

The Honorable Thomas Neuville who is chambered in the Rice County Courthouse in Faribault, Minnesota, is seeking a qualified person to fill a full-time judicial law clerk position starting August 2010.

Example of Duties:
Judicial law clerks work directly with the District Court Judge performing legal research, drafting memoranda and jury instructions. In addition to legal research and writing, clerks have the opportunity to observe court proceedings and learn first hand how the court system operates.
